Is 14 too young to get a navel piercing?

I heard that 14 is too young to get a navel piercing as your body still needs to grow and your stomach will stretch. Is this true and will I have to wait longer?

Only professional answers please
Thanks

I had my belly button pierced when i was thirteen. I was in seventh grade and just had to have it done. At the time i was around 5′5". I continued to grow and it never healed properly. Two years later i finally removed it, i was 5′8". Its been over three years since i took it out and it still hasn’t healed. The actual hole where it was pierced has only gotten closer and closer to the bottom of my belly button. The area around it is a different type of skin and a different color. People have told me it looks like i have two belly buttons. I have been told i will have to get surgery to reconstruct it or it will tear during pregnancy. If you really want one you need to wait until your body is done growing, at least until your eighteen. Don’t do something you’ll regret later just because it seems cool at the time.

How do you know when a navel piercing is infected and how to take care of it?

How do you know when a navel piercing is infected?? I got mine done the 2nd of Jan. New Yrs/Xmas gift from a friend :P
But, was wondering like, if it’s infected how will I know? It’s really crusty, red, and sore still, not near as bad as when I 1st got it done but it’s a lil tender to touch. There’s SOME puss but it’s white and she told me that’s exspected, however, I woke up with a belly button full of fluid. I’m new to a Body Piercing idk what’s normal or not. As far as I can tell it’s not infected…at least I don’t think.

The nurse who pierced me told me to clean it with Povidone-Iodine solution (10%) and Vaseline (to promote lubrication of the ring). My question to this is like…should I leave some of the Vaseline on it after I clean it or should I just wipe everything dry? Also how many times a day should I clean it? I’ve been a freak about cleaning it so it doesn’t get infected. Any advise and help is more than welcomed. Thx for all the help in advance guys.
I use some sea salt on it and the redness disapated…I’ve also consulted another piercer… and waiting to get back from him.

And yes, her day time jobs a nurse, I had it done in a studio her and her hubby own the shop. She did a good job aside from telling me how to clean it. It’s positioned perfectly she used a sterilized needle, she and her husband have been in the tattoo and piercing business for more than 25 yrs.now I figured I could trust them.

yeah, that’s infected.

At this point you will need to decide. Do you feel the infection is minor enough to see if it will go away on its own? Do you want to remove it and avoid the possibility of the surrounding skin dying? Do you want to go to a doctor and get a proper antibiotic cream?

I’ve had an infected piercing. It’s not fun. I waited too long to go to the doctor’s and ended up wasting my $ and getting some really nasty scar tissue.

I’ve never heard of using vaseline on a piercing. I was always told to use the special soap in the shower to lubricate and twist the ring. You had a nurse do it? Do they do two shifts at the hospital and one as a piercer the next? That doesn’t sound good or right. They may have lied to you about their profession. I suggest going to another piercer and telling them what the nurse told you.

If you got it done outside of a professional office (like your bedroom, someone’s bathroom or living room) take it out right now. It is not safe to do certain piercings without the proper tools. And that may be why you’re having issues.
