Navel Piercing Rejection
My four month old piercing started rejecting, I can see the bar through the skin. I went to a piercing studio, and two of it’s piercers advised me to let the ring grow out naturally, instead of removing it. I’ve read up on piercing rejection on several body modification websites, and mostly removal of the ring is recommended. Can I get any advice on this?
if you leave the jewelry in and let it continue to reject, its going to be painful and will leave a nasty scar.
I can’t believe that the piercers even told you to leave it in.
Take it out and let the area heal. you’re probably still going to have some scarring but not as bad as if you let your body force it out completely

If you’re not having pain or irritation of any kind, then it probably is just the swelling. If your piercing starts rejecting, it won’t just be a matter of the bar looking longer. The bar will be shallower and the holes for the piercing will gradually move. It’s usually a pretty slow process. There’s usually a trail of sorts behind the holes as they become migrate, a pink/red line of scar tissue. I’ve had mine for almost 2 years and it’s exactly where it was when I first got it done. I still use my original bar almost all the time, and if I move it where the bottom bead is flush with the hole, there’s about 1/8 inch of bar to spare. Note, you shouldn’t be pushing on yours and moving it around yet, I’m just saying mine is all healed and I have that amount of bar to spare. A lot of people have trouble with navel piercings, but I’ve always had the theory a lot of that has to do with their popularity and the irresponsible people getting them…so if you treat it well, you’ll most likely be fine. Of the responsible people I know, no one’s had problems with theirs. Just stick to simple washing in the shower with a gentle, dove soap and doing your sea salt soaks. And leave it alone- every time you touch it, you risk getting bacteria or other irritants in it
suggestions to remove and to reinstall jewelry on our observations and experiences, and the proportion and texture of the tissue. Your tissue may change dramatically someday, so we could never rule out the future possibility to try again. Just drop in sometime later on and let us assess how you bounce back. In the meantime, gentle rolling tissue massage can help soften and smooth the scar tissue as physical therapy to improve the odds in your favor.
i never had that problem with my navel honestly i just think everyone body is different. i just used dove soap when i got a shower and pushed up and down on the bar bell and clean water hit it and pushed up and down and its fine i listened to my body piercer that’s what she told me to do so i did and its fine!
