Body Piercing

Please tell me the name of a studio that will do Body Piercings at age 14 with parental consent. Isn't the illinois law that a minor can get their navel pierced with parental consent at any age? I really want my navel pierced so if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Unfortunately it is legal for a shop in Illinois to pierce your navel at any age if you have your parent's consent. Luckily most reputable piercers refuse to work on anyone under 16, especially for a navel piercing.

If you find someone who will pierce you under 16, they do not care about your health or your long term happiness and are after your money. This means that they may be doing other shady things like not sterilizing equipment, reusing needles, etc.

Why won't decent piercers work on your navel at 14? Because you are still growing. Your body is still changing shape. As you get taller and your hips expand, the shape of your navel and the tension on the skin that forms it will change. This means that any piercing done on you now may be in the wrong place as you grow or may be put under pressure and force its way out of your skin. This can leave some terrible scarring or even rip the little flap at the top of your navel in two. I've seen it with my own eyes.

This isn't a question of you being mature enough to have it emotionally. It's not a question of weather or not you would take proper care of it. It is the plain and simple fact that your body is not physically ready to have your navel pierced. No one is able to change that.

I hope that you make the responsible choice and wait until your body is mature enough for your piercing to turn out well in the long run.
