I tried to convince my mother to let me get a nose stud and/or my navel pierced and she adamantly said no. I think its her own fear of needles and such (I had to beg her to let me give blood at my school's blood drive earlier this year) She says she doesn't have to give me a reason because I'm not 18 yet, which I think is rather childish when coming from someone who is just past her 51st birthday. She even went and tattled to her younger brother who called me up and…not lectured, but the nicer version of it which was worse because I couldn't get mad at him. He told me that I shouldn't go and ruin my pretty face, which is BEYOND stupid because I think that was being stereotypical. When you want a simple nose stud and a subtle belly button ring for the summer all of the sudden its ruining your body?!?
My mother thinks that next I'm going to want my tongue and asse pierced which pisses me off when she says it mockingly. Maybe I will get it to spite her….
Views? Opinions?
i'll be 17 in november and already have 8 holes in my ear. 4 in the lobes, and 4 in the cartildge, two of which are taken up by an industrial bar. i agree, piercings are rather addictive, but i really won't overdo it. and i've also heard this: it's easier to get forgiveness than permission. agree?

yes, a simple stud in nose.
its ironic cuz i first got my ears pierced at 4 weeks. my mom's decision.

Body peircings are ok. Just don't get a nose hoop piercing, those are ugly, but then again … it's your body, you can do what you want.

Your mom is just being a mother, your views of life will always be different than hers.
If you don't remember, there was a time when your mother picked your clothes out, and basically your preferences, ya know ? ~lol

I'm not siding with your mom, but she still wants you to be the little girl you were between 3 & 12 ( there's no way you would of thought of such a thing at that age ~hahaa )

Forgiveness is better than permission.

She won't be mad at you forever, you should get your nose pierced. Just a small stud though, those are kind of cute.

Get your belly done too, but no more piercing on your face, ok ?

I only recommend Body Art Forms and Tribalectic, but that's just me. They have quality jewelry at reasonable [not too cheap] prices. You get what you pay for.

I am a father of older teens 18-19 and

with the lip rings and “Snake Bites ”
I have a hard time with it
I am not a prude and we do alot
together and they tell me it is
what they wanted to do for a long time

I have a daughter that wanted to have piercings and tattoos. I told her as long as she was a minor and under my authority she was not gonna have either. Guess what happened the day of her 18th birthday! She got her nose pierced, her eyebrow and half her back tattooed. I love my daughter no matter what and like you her and I have a very close relationship. Today she's 21 and she's starting to talk about what technology is available to have her eyebrow piercing scar removed! I did tell her at the time that it's a teen phase, at 42 I panic each time I see a little something different in my face and she will hate herself later for scaring her face…………it went in one ear and out the other.

We raise them, we love them and at some point we have to let them be. My daughter is graduating college, she works since she's 16, she's sensitive and mature, she never gave me a worry, I though seeing her with piercing and tattooss was a small sacrifice I could do with cause she was the best daughter someone could have.

ADD: I would like to add all her friends have piercings and tatooes and they're all college graduate of University students. As long as their life is on track let them express who they are. It's a phase.
